About
Equality & Social Progress are fundamental aspects of the democratic society. Our commitment to dialogue and productive engagement have led us to this year's topic. Nowadays, Bulgarian optimism is harder to revive.
Social scientists have identified at least three major forces that collectively bind successful democracies together: social capital (extensive social networks with high levels of trust), strong institutions, and shared stories.
But, perhaps - to listen and understand; to question and disagree; to treat no proposition as sacred and no objection as impious; to be willing to entertain unpopular ideas and cultivate the habits of an open mind - will lead us back to optimism and social growth.
